We live in interesting times…

The New York Times on Sunday night announced endorsements for two Democratic candidates in the 2020 Presidential election. What’s unusual is that the editorial board, a group of 20 veteran reporters and option writers, chose two of the Democrats in the running; Senators Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota and Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts.

Do endorsements like this matter? What do political endorsements even mean? And what, exactly, is an editorial board? Why should we care? What’s the difference between news and opinion anyway?
